Potential Scan Kruitfabriek at Day of Architecture

As part of the Day of Architecture and Periferia Festival, Dieter Leyssen of 51N4E will explain together with Eva Fonteyn of Matexi their Potential Scan of the former factory ‘Kruitfabriek’ into a mixed-use building. In an open yet structured dialogue between the different parties involved, new possibilities for the existing structure where explored through an integrated scenario-building.

Quand l'architecture efface le handicap

Two projects of 51N4E, De Lork and Huis aan't Laar, will be presented in the exhibition organized by the Maison de l'architecture et de la ville Nord-Pas de Calais. The exhibition shows projects, collected all over the world, which tackle the clogged institutional clichés associated with health care architecture.

Exhibition City Outside the City

‘LaboXX. Viral densification’, a collaborative research project by 51N4E and Connect&Transform, will be featured in City Outside the City, an exhibition by Flemish Architecture Institute and deSingel International Arts Campus. Anticipating on Antwerp’s large demographic growth face and the city’s growing need for renovation of its suburbs, 51N4E proposed a series of mechanisms that can speed up the reconversion of Antwerp’s 20th century belt through integrative process development. The opening lecture on Thursday 26 February 2015 in the Blue hall in deSingel at 8 p.m, is free but it is necessary to enroll.

Re-Cycle Italy

Dieter Leyssen of 51N4E will lecture at the Re-Cycle Italy conference, a collaborative initiative of Politecnico Milano. Stating that ‘the growing cycle of urbanization that has transformed Italian cities and territories over the past decades, sometimes building new networks and artifacts, but more often by reusing and transforming patterns inherited from the past, seems to be at an end’, this conference investigates new approaches of urbanization and urban renewal. 51N4E will take part in the session called ‘Maintenance’, together with Livio de Santoli of University of Rome and Ugo Morelli of University of Bergamo, moderated by Marco Bovati and Andrea Gritti.
